beauty of craft
and sincerity of heart
fill her poems

The Paul Brandt School Forest in Boscobel, Wisconsin

WINTER IN OCTOBER For Paul F. Brandt

Another death a sudden death this autumn of winter in October.

Condolences pour in your service strengthens and your body is laid to rest in beloved Wisconsin land.

Now the grief begins and how else could it be?

Surely a few people will remain with us in our loving sorrow like the golden leaves left on the tree outside my window that will turn green again…

Memorial Day

My cousin, Paul F. Brandt, served in Vietnam.  Then he worked for the Department of Natural Resources in Wisconsin for many years.  He died suddenly in 2006, at the age of 60.  He left his land to the Boscobel School District, Wisconsin; now renamed The Paul Brandt School Forest.  The photo of the Vietnam War Memorial is courtesy of wpclipart.com.

We remember, we honor and love, we care for our wounded soldiers and veterans, and we pray for peace.  Ellen

More Inspiration

This morning I read an inspiring post by Sandra Heska King:  “The Artist’s Way:  Descent into Ashes.”  This is about  Sandra’s journey and Julia Cameron’s long and fruitful work in helping people recover their creativity.  I’m enjoying Sandra’s blog:  http://sandraheskaking.com.  Julia Cameron helps me too; she encourages faith and health, along with our work.

Many of you know Merrill Ann Gonzales from Guest Posts and her thoughtful comments.  She is posting her unique haiga on her blog – her beautiful drawings and haiku by poets who have been practicing their craft for a long time.  http://snowbirdpress.wordpress.com

Maria Tatham is another friend through WordPress.  Yesterday, I was able to spend several hours reading her wonderful novel, THE QUEEN AND THE HANDYMAN.  Maria’s prose is poetic, and she surely knows how to create a story.  I am encouraged that God knows our days and loves us more than we can ever truly know.  http://christianfantasyforwomen.com/

Blessings and thank you,

as always,

Ellen
