Aunt Merc’s daffodils

warm as the sun

My great-aunt, Mercedes Schwanke, lived to be almost 100.  She lived on the East Side of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I planted daffodils after her funeral, years ago, as a symbol of the Resurrection.

  1. What a marvelous name she had. I’ve always thought of daffodils as “sun catchers” so your phrase “warm as the sun” says it giving the warmth that daffodils bring to late winter, early spring.
