Three Tanka By Carol Purington

White walls
of the sanctuary –
early sunlight
splashes all the colors
of desperate hearts

* * *

for a solitary picnic –
cherry tomatoes
and all the Dickinson poems
I can remember

* * *

Another season,
a long walk around my hill –
sometimes I say
there’s nothing new to see,
sometimes I listen to God

  1. Hi, Carol… I learn a lot about life from Carol…. These tanka are some of the most poignant of hers I’ve read… windows on her true heart. Thanks so much Ellen for sending them to us. I LOVE YOU BOTH!!!
