Poems and Photos

Poems old and new, and recent photos by Karl:

after the storm
bird on a branch
of the broken tree

rain and
near my window
first daylilies bloom

driving across
a new bridge
on an old road

The ash tree stump is a beautiful place now for a begonia. Hosta plants surround the stump. A wonderful image of healing and renewal.

Hosta will flower soon.

sitting in the sun
with a cup of decaff
wearing 3 layers for warmth
Aunt Merc’s daffodils
warm as the sun

My great-aunt, Mercedes Schwanke, lived to be almost 100.  She lived on the East Side of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I planted daffodils after her funeral, years ago, as a symbol of the Resurrection.
