“Wait on the Lord”

Wait on the Lord:
be of good courage,
and he shall strengthen thine heart:
wait, I say, on the Lord.

Psalm 27: 14 (KJV)

The Broken Way by Ann Voskamp

I am reading The Broken Way: a daring path into the abundant life, by Ann Voskamp (Zondervan 2016; Copyright by Ann Morton Voskamp).

This book is blessing me these days; after a year of new losses, challenges, and many new blessings.

Ann’s writing is honest and from her heart.  She writes prose with the soul of a poet – her own special voice.

Her book is also the work of a scholar.  Ann Voskamp has a page for “Bible Translations Cited.”  The Notes for each chapter include references for Bible verses, and many authors.  Some of the authors she mentions are Mother Teresa, Martin Luther, Eugene Peterson, and Elizabeth Elliot.

Ann shares often at her site online.

With December 1, I am beginning to read a new devotional by Sarah Young:  Jesus Always: Embracing Joy in His Presence (2016, Thomas Nelson).  I bought my copy at a Target store, and this morning found the page for her book at Thomas Nelson.  Sarah Young writes from a perspective of chronic health problems, and time in prayer and Bible study.  I like the design of her small books.
