Garden Journal Photos And Poems

I began with photography as an almost daily practice in Spring.  Here are some of my favorite photos (2015), with short poems from this year and other times. Hope you enjoy the post.

they cannot stay

but will return
lilacs

strawberries
on tiny vase
from the thrift store
God’s special gift
to me today

100_2755

where once I mourned irises

we hold the door
for older people
memories of Mom

100_2645

cold so very cold
yet sunrise colors
show me flowers
that will bloom

100_2728

birds perch
in sheltering branches —
a grain of mustard seed

(Matthew 13: 31-32)

“birds perch” was published in Time Of Singing (1995).

Petals On Wood

PETALS ON WOOD

The daylilies in the vase
Are ending

Petals drop on wood

I leave them
They express something poignant

That words never could.

“Petals On Wood” was published in ARTS ALIVE: A LITERARY REVIEW (1988, The Tinley Park – Park District; Illinois).  This poem is an old favorite.
