tree branches
covered with snow
spring in Wisconsin
today
gardens growing
long before we came here
how deep the roots
must be and decades old
planted in God’s earth
March 2012
cold
yet from
this ground
daffodils
and tulips
will grow
again
many roads
I no longer travel
more poems in the garden
than I could ever write
new growth
on evergreens
and ferns grow
in gardens . . .
blessings in Spring
always new
every year
I remember
when I was young
and first began
to watch plants
and flowers grow
and then placed
one rose from
a garden of our own
in a glass of water
on a table
by a comfortable chair
and sat there
most likely with
books and notebooks
a flower from the yard
