Haiku: Old and New

haiku and history note

where once
I mourned
irises

I wrote this haiku some time ago. The gardens were a great comfort after my mother’s passing (2004). And they continue to inspire and offer images of hope.

In honor of Memorial Day 2020, Karl and I are now members of the Wisconsin Historical Society. I note their work about COVID-19: BIG history is happening.
