books and music

books and music
from over the years
live on these shelves

even if I don’t
reread or listen again

somehow their
healing influence
is in these words

older now
and when I shop
and when those who
help me are so kind
I am truly blessed

Poems from my archives

Through Pandora, I have been introduced to new music. Some of the artists are Helen Jane Long, Brian Crain, and Karen Marie Garrett. I bought a few CDs from Amazon. I like seeing the designs of the CDs, reading the notes, and being able to listen to a whole work by one artist.

And I am so grateful for kindness – here with our blogs, in our town, and other places. Thank you!

The Snow Falls

the snow falls
and the sun rises

I see the sun reflected
in a neighbor’s window

the snow falls
on everything

evergreen branches
picnic tables, rocks, grass

planters left untouched
for just this reason

the snow falls
on everything

also the graves
the fields that were
parched

this gentle healing
snowfall

sometimes

sometimes
it is enough
to simply hold
one of my
well-worn Bibles
and thank God
and then reread
a Psalm I’ve read
more times than
I know and still
discover something
new
