books and blessings

a small card
in a devotional book
from a thrift store

words of encouragement
from one person to another

I keep the card with the book
and its history today
and tomorrow

We also bought used books from Mead Library in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. After I read them, I can give them to someone else, or donate to another place. Lately, I am especially interested in memoirs.

And I bought Jan Karon’s new book: Bathed In Prayer, Father Tim’s Prayers, Sermons, and Reflections from the Mitford Series. I looked for the book at local stores, and then bought from Amazon. I appreciate being able to order online too. I have also bought used books from Amazon.

Please see Jan Karon’s site for more information. I love her novels. They are deep and true, so well-written.

It is endless – all the ways to learn, bless, and be blessed.

Peaceful gratitude,
Ellen Grace Olinger

My haiku was first published in SMILE, 67, 2010. SMILE was a large print journal edited and published by Joyce M. Johnson for years.

And published in Take-out Window: Haiku Society of America 2014 Members’ Anthology, edited by Gary Hotham.
