Place – Daily Prompt

Do you have a favorite place you have visited? Where is it?

Daily Prompt

This morning I posted a poem about the Midwest at Poems From Oostburg, Wisconsin.

I have thought more about PLACE today, and how the Psalms and prayer are a place of peace for me.

Then I thought about authors and books. Two examples are:

Jan Karon and her Mitford novels – books to reread. Wonderful characters, stories, and a sense of place.

Tracy Balzer and her book, A Journey of Sea and Stone: How Holy Places Guide and Renew Us. I plan to reread this thoughtful book.

Jan Karon’s novels are excellent. I discovered The Mitford Museum site. The museum is in Hudson, NC and was founded by Jan Karon. The beautiful site includes more information and an online store.

We also bought used books from Mead Library in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. After I read them, I can give them to someone else, or donate to another place. Lately, I am especially interested in memoirs.

And I bought Jan Karon’s new book: Bathed In Prayer, Father Tim’s Prayers, Sermons, and Reflections from the Mitford Series. I looked for the book at local stores, and then bought from Amazon. I appreciate being able to order online too. I have also bought used books from Amazon.

Please see Jan Karon’s site for more information. I love her novels. They are deep and true, so well-written.

It is endless – all the ways to learn, bless, and be blessed.

Peaceful gratitude,
Ellen Grace Olinger

Jan Karon’s novels are a part of my life.  I reread a few of her recent books this year.

Her new book, to be published this fall, is Bathed in Prayer: Father Tim’s Prayers, Sermons, and Reflections from the Mitford Series.

Carol Purington writes poetry, and I have been reading her haiku and tanka for years.   You can read some of her poems and learn more about her books at Woodslawn Farm.

Farm Song is Carol’s new work in progress.  This is a family project for Carol.  Please visit Woodslawn Farm for the latest information.
