The words of the LORD are pure words:
as silver tried in a furnace of earth,
purified seven times.
Psalm 12: 6
I am the vine, ye are the branches:
He that abideth in me, and I in him,
the same bringeth forth much fruit:
for without me ye can do nothing.
John 15: 5 (KJV)

the snow falls
and the sun rises
I see the sun reflected
in a neighbor’s window
the snow falls
on everything
evergreen branches
picnic tables, rocks, grass
planters left untouched
for just this reason
the snow falls
on everything
also the graves
the fields that were
parched
this gentle healing
snowfall

sometimes
it is enough
to simply hold
one of my
well-worn Bibles
and thank God
and then reread
a Psalm I’ve read
more times than
I know and still
discover something
new
