God’s Grace

Today is my mother’s birthday. She was called Home 15 years ago. Hard to comprehend the time. One nice feature of blogging is that it creates a record, a journal. I wrote this poem soon after my mother’s passing. Love endures, and continues to grow.

GOD’S GRACE

You went on
After more losses
Than I can name

With you as
Mother and model
I must do the same

You suffered and
I do not ask you
To bear more pain

You are eternally well
Still saying “I love you”
Again and again

Published in Bell’s Letters Poet 109 and The Discerning Poet (Autumn 2004).

Willow

The weeping willow
performs its own ballet

Silently lyrical
singing of solace
dancing of peace
