Welcoming Hope: Poems for those in need

Welcoming Hope: Poems for those in need is a book that we published with Time of Singing poetry journal. I reread the book recently, and the poems are strong and timeless.

Lora Homan Zill and I served as the Editors. Charles A. Waugaman was the Art Editor and Illustrator.

The book includes poems by many poets. With the universal themes of faith and hope, the book continues to be a beautiful work of art.

The book can be ordered from The Blue Collar Artist Time of Singing. All proceeds benefit Time of Singing. You can also learn more about Time of Singing “quarterly Christian poetry journal from Wind & Water Press.”

In 2016, I worked with The Haiku Foundation to create a Gallery of Cover Art.  The covers also tell part of the story of English Language Haiku in a visual way, as they are from many years.  Mini-chapbooks, books, journals, and anthologies are represented, with links to the original sources.  Thank you to Dave Russo for his work to publish the gallery.

As an additional note today, I wrote this poem the first autumn after my mother’s winter passing (2004).  The lilacs have bloomed many more times since then.

At the time, the key word in this poem for me was loss.

Now I know the key word is living – and I am grateful every day.

Thank you,
Ellen Grace Olinger

Publication note: “November” was published in Hermitage: A Haiku Journal, Volume II, 2005.  Ion Codrescu, Editor.

My first blog with WordPress is Poems From Oostburg, Wisconsin.   I began with WordPress in December 2009.   This format for writing has encouraged me so much.

In 2001, I published a small chapbook of my poems, now out of print.   So now it is 2014 and a long time since then.    I hope to make a few small chapbooks from my blogs, beginning with my site Quiet Christmas Poetry.  Karl will help me, and we’ll include his photos.  I will keep you informed.

In 2007, I published a poetry collection with Time Of Singing.   The title is Welcoming Hope: Poems For Those In Need.   Please visit their books page for more information, if you are interested.  Many poets are included, and the book is illustrated by Charles A. Waugaman.

And I plan to keep Poems From Oostburg, Wisconsin current.  Today I posted a haiku I wrote last year:

Sunday morning
finding poems again
in silence

Thank you and many blessings,

Ellen Grace Olinger
